Uno de los pintores mexicanos más reconocidos a nivel mundial. a lo largo del siglo XX pudo conjugar su herencia mexicana y arte prehispánico con las vanguardias internacionales, en piezas marcadas por el color, la perspectiva, la armonía y la textura. Pintaba escenas que no necesariamente eran de folclor o costumbristas o indigenistas, sino más bien lo hace desde ahí, desde ser él mismo, una persona que asume su herencia y luego la enriquece, la pone a dialogar sofisticadamente con una vanguardia internacional.

One of the most recognized Mexican painters worldwide. Throughout the 20th century, he was able to combine his Mexican heritage and pre-Hispanic art with the international avant-gardes, in pieces marked by color, perspective, harmony and texture. He painted scenes that were not necessarily folkloric or traditional or indigenous, but rather he does it from there, from being himself, a person who assumes his inheritance and then enriches it, puts him in a sophisticated dialogue with an international avant-garde.
